An engineering run at the 90-inch was used to test
the new autoguider. The
guide camera, a 512 x 512 (1024 x 512 unmasked) frame
transfer CCD camera, was mounted at the erfle eyepiece port.
The autoguiding software combines Tcl/Tk, LabVIEW,
and C routines to provide a robust user friendly interface.
We successfully closed the loop between the autoguider
and the telescope. The system will be used at several Steward
telescopes.
Additional photos of the run are available on the
Pictures page.

The second 90prime engineering run was conducted during
the weekend of October 5, 2001. All the engineering goals
were achieved. The ring changing and dewar mounting
procedures went smoothly. The dewar was filled
using the new LN2 system. The next engineering run
is planned for early February 2002.
Additional photos of the run are available on the
Pictures page.
